I have a JayZee 42" by Country Clipper. I worked great for two years. Now, the belt keeps coming off. I cleaned all the grass from everywhere, sharpened the blades, and bought a new belt. But still that belt keeps coming off.

I adjusted the belt keepers.

The pulleys all look good.

I'm stumped, and the grass is growing out of control.

I have had three riding mowers come in lately with the same problem and all of them were due to the identical cause. The pivot arm for the tension pulley was bent down and caused the belt to ride high on the lip of the pulley which eventually allowed it to slip right off the top. The fix was to remove the deck and hold it in a manner which you can eyeball all the pulleys to spot the problem. I took an adjustable wrench and "adjusted" the offending pivot arm so the pulley was back in line with the others.

Make sure to spin all the pulleys and watch for a bent or wobbling pulley and listen to the bearings - make sure none of them are grinding.

Good luck and let us know what you find.
