My parts list shows two coils for the 3810, and which one depends on your serial number:

For frame serial numbers <=1414934, the coil is part # 30500-890-591 ($79.62)
For frame serial numbers >=1414935, yes, that is the right number and it has been discontinued.

Nothing I can see in the catalog that describes the difference. I checked the shop manuals and they show the same drawing. Obviously, there must be some kind of differences, but what?

The one engineer I know here who might recall is on vacation, but I'll see what he can contribute when back in the office on Monday.

I have the same problem.

However, its not the frame serial number that you need, its the engine serial number. From what I have learned the HT3810/K2 requires the 30500-890-952 and that coil is a replacement for the 30500-890-951.

It appears that you can't get either of the two. I couldn't even find a used one on ebay. You would think there would be a replacement for them but I can't find mention of one anywhere.

Thanks for the Boats.net lead for the coil replacement. However, I found that site more than a week ago and ordered the part. Three days later a got an email from them saying that they couldn't get the part and they canceled the order.

Best Regards,
Tom

Hi, I checked the engine block and it is a G400. I can't find the serial number however.

I looked up G400 ignition coils and they sell sets of ignition coil, condenser, and breaker points. But none of the HT3810 parts sources that I have looked at mention a condenser or breaker points for the HT3810. It doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy that I have located the right part.
