    Replacing broken Craftsman sockets

Great idea to paint the sockets! Although, here in UK everything is metric except my 16 year old Craftsman LT2000 (US made) that has to have its own set of sockets!

Looking for advice re: purchasing a reliable lawn tractor

I can only refer to reliability and that is my Craftsman LT2000 with its original 17.5hp B&S engine. Bought in 2008 and still in use cutting half an acre of lawn all season and occasionally rough cutting of brambles, nettles etc. The brakes failed last year (but still drivable) so I bought a JD...

    Used oil

All of my waste oil is reused around the property: I use waste oil to protect any tools with wooden handles particularly spades, forks etc. A good wipe periodically with an oil soaked rag preserves the wood and extends its life. For vehicles with box or round sections (particularly on the...

Long-time self-propelled mower user looking for first riding mower

Yes! A ride on mower is a good solution as you get older! you won’t regret it. For 1/3 acre you won’t need an expensive, high powered machine. And, as it will be your first machine the simpler it is the better. My first was a Craftsman LT2000 with a 17.5hp Briggs & Stratton engine, manual...

How many hours do machines really last?

What’s an hour meter? My Craftsman LT2000 has been worked hard for 15 years but mostly averaging 9 months a year. I've kept on top of maintenance throughout which I believe is why it has remained so reliable. I’m not a commercial outfit but looking after 5 acres with one machine sure feels like...

    Craftsman 253280 Brake not working

I am confused! My faithful LT2000 no longer brakes. While servicing the brake and reassembling everything I noticed the brake disc doesn’t turn when the rear wheels are turned (while jacked up). I checked the splines and the brake disc positively engages on the shaft. Am I looking at a transaxle...

    New to the lawnmower forum

Hello from the sometimes sunny Isle of Anglesey in Wales. I have a 10 year old Craftsman LT2000 17.5hp 42” deck which has been worked hard (including brushhogging!) and continues to be reliable and sturdy. I have several other mowers, petrol and electric, but the Craftsman is by far the favourite.

    Hi from Isle of Anglesey

I've been using lawnmowers for 60 years but my all time favourite is the Craftsman LT2000 which I've owned since 2008.
