    Thanks, that would be a big help. By the way, my new best tool is my M20 Milwaukee power ratchet. It's really handy like when you are sitting on the back step, with the deck across your legs and you are tightening the bolts that hold the engine to the deck.

    Thanks for the reply, I think it is as you said, they just went to a shorter style bearing. At this point I've nothing to lose in trying it. The I bought the mower in an antique center. It appears to not have been used too much, all the stickers are original. And it came with a brand new side...
