I have a Scag Cheetah and the hour meter display is cactus - just shows random lines. Just wondering where the runtime hours are stored, i.e. if I replace the meter will it start at zero? If possible I want to retain the actual runtime hours. Cheers, Peter

StarTech was spot on - my problem was faulty zerks. Two out of three in brand new spindles! Bought 4 new zerks today (thought I would keep a couple in reserve) and two out of four failed. The moral of the story is: don't be a jerk, never trust a zerk. Thanks for the very informative...

Wow, I had no idea grease nipples were such a potential cause of problems. I had the opportunity to grease the spindles before installing them - now I have remove them!! Never again, always check parts grease up as advertised before installation. Cheers, Peter

Thanks ST, I can't see if the grease is coming from the zerk centre as the only thing I can report is the grease seems to flowing from all around the the grease gun nozzle. i presume this is because it is leaking back around the outside edge of the zerk. I actually didn't see this as a problem...

Hi, I had smoke coming from under the deck of my Scag Cheetah yesterday and when looked underneath there was blaze around the top of right outside spacer spindle above the blade. Anyone had a similar experience and what was the cause? BTW the Scag is 8 years old. Cheers, Peter
