Are you sure the linkage is working? has it been sitting a long time? This isnt a transmission for a GX, but its just for reference for you on what is inside the transmission that can go wrong.

New to owning honda riding mowers. I buy and restore mowers, usually the JD ones. But I picked up three hondas that were headed for the junk yard. I got a 3813, 4214 and a 4414(?). these were great mowers, but the issue with the transmission is pretty common. But really it isnt the transmission, if they have been sitting for awhile, the CVT, or constant variable transmission would stick. If your belts are ok, there are two under there, well that is what you have to look...
