My trusty old blower has had a dizzy fit and broken the recoil spring in the starter.......wondering if anyone would have one they'd be willing to sell me. They are discontinued and unavailable. l've since bought a new blower but would love to have this as a backup.
l ordered one from Jacks...
Not sure if l should post a link to another forum (delete if not allowed) but this explains it perfectly, and is where l did mine from https://www.mytractorforum.com/threads/starter-assist-relay-assembly-and-install.209618/
l've been doing this for years now Bert, my Grav Compact Pro has separate pumps/motors.....should l not be doing this? l'm fanatical about maintenance, l change the hydro oil & filter every 150 hrs
l bought a Magna-matic many years ago when l was starting out, its been gathering dust for 10 yrs or more......l buy Sten blades in bulk & swap em as needed, l'm right on the beach so all of my lawns are sandy and blades wear very quickly
G'day Bert
l've snipped off the plunger.......what should l do with the leads now? Does it make any difference if they are left open or closed circuit?
Mower hasn't been used for about 12 mths (l only use my gravely compact pro now).
Fuel has been replaced and carby cleaned - no sign of...
lt fires straight away with ether sprayed down its throat and dies almost immediately. l've cleaned the carby right through, it looked spotless. Drained the tank, fresh fuel & confirmed it is flowing to the carby.
l popped off the valve cover and about 1/4 cup of oil flowed out (oil level is low...
Thanks for the offer, it's so rusty that there is no hope of reading it :(
l've been told the blade rotor can be hard to remove from the shaft & can result in damage to the rotor (when they're in this condition) so l'll try that before going any further
l got out an older ride-on to give it a run, hasn't been used for maybe 12 months. Had to spray some ether into her to get it going but it soon settled down.....started mowing and as soon as the mower was on a slight lean (angled down slightly on the carby side) it would start to splutter...
Had this for a few years now, still going strong
l made up this chute blocker for it....couple of other mods, 20x10x10 tyres, starter assist relay, seat suspension kit & drilled a hole between my most used cutting heights to get an "in between"
l'm using Carlisle tyres (l'm a contractor in NSW) they seem to be the best

My Compact Pro 34 has a constant problem with starting, not getting enough volts to the starter to fire. Its intermittent, sometimes it will fire 1st turn of the key, most times it takes many tries - l recently put a new key switch on it but it is still the same.
So - l'm thinking of installing...
Have had an ongoing problem with the gravely since fairly new, intermittent starting issue...sometimes starts 1st hit, then it is click click click on the solenoid. Finally decided to trace it (with all the recent rain, time to get onto it) it was dirty contacts in the ignition switch plug. So I...
my gravely compact pro bogs down in thick grass, any advice on how to increase power? carby modification would seem to be the likely way to go but how exactly??
Bought this mower the other week, bl00dy expensive here in Oz (over $9000) and first of all put 20x10-10 carlisle turf masters on it - had to do some grinding of the tank brackets to make it fit, but is much kinder on soggy lawns now...
then made up a chute blocker out of 5/8 steel...
Bought a C/Pro 34 for my business; have bought 20x10-10 carlisle turf masters for better performance without damaging lawns ( we get a fair bit of rain and the ground stays damp/soft for a long while). The other thing I need to do is make a chute blocker as I will be mulching 90% of the time - I...
New here, just bought gravely compact pro 34 for my business. First ztr after 20 odd years with Cox lawn tractors (an aussie company), going to take some getting the hang of but looking forward to our next spring/summer
