Can't help as I have never heard of a Shortcut 1500 from Hustler? As you said it must be old. . . .

How to make file size smaller for pictures so that I can show pictures from my phone it keeps saying they are too large.

Yes get off the phone and use a desktop. Open picture in paint. Change the size until it fits without scrolling up and down or side to side. Now save this file. It will fit fine. . . .

Welcome to the Hustler Forum -- Check in Here First!

No Hustler got sold to Stanley (Also know as Stanley Black and Decker-Yes the giant that owns many product lines!) back in 2021. Also note that Hustler is just a brand and the company was known as Excel Industries. They made Hustler and Big Dog mower brands. Still in business and still growing...

    Nice Air Filtration Upgrade!

I also have added this to my Hustler Raptor 54" (FR691V Engine). Surprised at how rinky dink the factory air filter was. Then I saw that Kawasaki does install this better system on their better engines but as always it costs more. So it's $230+ and that would increase the selling price of this...

    Superzilla

Another fan of ATF and Acetone mixture. I put it in a spray can with compressed air. Cheap and if you look at tests it usually comes out on top. But you will never see it in a commercial product because it's to common and has no special ingredients. I was very surprised too because I had always...

    Drive Belt Replacement

I found out how to change the deck belt with no tools. Pretty simple once you understand where to work on it. I have a Raptor SD 54" Mower. Belt Change with no Tools I can install or remove the belt in under a minute. One other thing I did to make service easier it to replace the bolts holding...

so much confusion on Kawasaki oil filters.

I prefer to use WIX which is also the same as NAPA Gold filters. . . .

Longest WIX oil filter I can use on my Kawasaki FR651V ?

Don't worry about the micron rating being too low. Way more than that to look at when picking a filter. Size of the filter media is number one. The more of that you have the better the filter and of course the higher the price too! No increase in pressure drop? Read about filters. It works just...

Longest WIX oil filter I can use on my Kawasaki FR651V ?

So far over 100 hours using the bigger Wix filters with zero problems. Probably won't make a measurable difference but I do like the few extra ounces of engine oil. I also added the factory Kawasaki oil cooler plate. Not as good as a completely separate cooler radiator but it does remove some...

    Maintenance Tachometer

It depends on what you want to measure? I got a mechanical/photo tachometer. Then I don't need to have any ignition or electrical connections and I can do stuff like PTO/shaft rpm's or electric motor speeds. I have some stuff that it's very difficult to get to anything so access is a major...

so much confusion on Kawasaki oil filters.

Yes I have also added a longer and larger capacity filter. Here is what I found for my Kawasaki FR691V engine. Factory called for #49065-7007 Wix 57035 2.3" long-This is the same length as the stock filter. Wix 51056 2.7" long Wix 51348 3.4" long Wix 51516 4.8" long Here is a picture of the...

Help finding the right replacement belt?

One other comment since your in there already? The upper cogged belt in your picture is the drive belt for the Hydro's. These are problematic and I have gone thru 2 in 350 hours of operation. I have a Raptor SD 54" but I think your belt will be the same? Easy to check too. Mine stock belt was...

Kawasaki FX850V failed with just 2.9hr of use.

You bring up a good point that I tried to find out? What is the Zinc and Phosphorus level in the oil your using? I am a Mobil 1 fan and they make a wide range of products. After much searching I found the attached spec. sheet for Mobil 1. I have been wanting to try the 15W-50 in the engine as...

    Do I want a zero-turn mower?

I am not far from your situation as I have 4 acres and way more than a thousand trees. I ended up with a ZT mower and a small utility tractor with a front end loader and several other attachments. It's a Kioti with a 3 cylinder diesel all hydrostatic and 4 wheel drive which means it's a dream to...

    Shop/ Repair Manuals

skip49 I did the same thing when I was still working so I could use my work's printer and paper supplies! Idler Pulley Guide - Part Number?

Sorry but what is IPL? Yes that tab is installed depending on the serial number but there are errors here too. My mower was NOT in the serial range that these were installed on. That's why my version of the manual does not show it. Yet my mower did come with it. I think it should be on all of...

Idler Pulley Guide - Part Number?

Yes thank both of you! Just got one ordered. Funny it's not even shown in lots of parts diagrams. It's on the later serial number decks so I guess my printing of the manual must be an earlier version. . . .

Idler Pulley Guide - Part Number?

I lost a bearing in one of my idler pullies. Found the part number as #604792 but my mower deck has a broken part attached to the idler pulley bolt that is not listed in my service/parts manual? Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

Yes a better cooler would be the more standard separate small radiator setup. I did not see a lot of room and decided the plate style would be an improvement over nothing at all. Has anyone measured oil temperature? These do run hot but they are designed that way. Plastic fender is not going to...

Hustler Raptor SD 54” - Caught on Fire - Model 935833

I had to add a heat shield under the muffler on my Raptor SD 54". Otherwise it left brown marks in the grass where the heat cooked it. Heat shield fixed it 100%. Hustler # 120564 - Muffler Shield Kit. About $35 from Hustler. . . .

2018 Hustler Raptor - 3yrs owned, broke down 5 times!!!

    Kawasaki FR691v

Sorry can't help with your problem but I just did the valve adjustment and found out a few tips? First jack the back of the mower up. Otherwise oil pours out of the bottom of the valve covers. And it will keep coming out because of how they designed the engine. Poor design! Be sure and have a...

Hustler Raptor 54SD LEFT HYDRO TRANSMISSION

Does your Raptor have the proper undated Hydro braces installed? Sounds like it does not since your throwing the belt? These need to be installed on any Raptor and check the bolts to make sure they are tight too. Braces have cracked and bolts have fallen out before. . . .

    Hustler Fastrack Deck Washport?

Yes I avoid spraying water on ANY of my machines anymore if possible. Tractor, mower get blown off with compressed air. Learned this from the Harley guys as any water left in the cracks will cause future rusting problems. They usually blow off their bikes after washing them. . . .

Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

I saw a post about adding the factory oil cooler used on the bigger Fh721 engine to the Fr691v that I have on my 54" Raptor SD. Wish I could remember who posted that as I owe them a big thanks! Here are some pictures and a few things I did differently on my install. The Kawasaki parts needed...

    Hustler idler pulley .bearing replacement

New Leftover 2020 Hustler SD 48" Mower

Glad you like it! Some guys have had problems with throwing the belt and miss-alignment of the Hydro's. The problem was lack of bracing between the Hydro's allowing the forces to twist the machine. Hustler did release an upgraded brace plus an additional brace. If you have these two braces...

    Standard spark plugs vs. iridium.........

The reason for Platinum and Iridium plugs is for longevity. That's how the car companies get the 100K mile rating for changing plugs. Now if you race or are into hi performance you will soon find out Copper is usually the plug of choice. BUT that also means much shorter service intervals like...

Hustler raptor drive belt jumping off.

    How long do EZTs last?

Yes old thread for sure! He is making a big mistake by operating the mower at less than full speed. Hustler Rapture running rough

ZT 2348XL hydro fluid leak at one of the wheel motors

Go to Hydrogear. They can give you a manual for your hydro's and the proper instructions. Yes rebuild yours instead of replacing them. It's only leaking fluid so the Hydro is still good. It's not dangerous at all. Get the Hydrogear part number. It should be on the hydro itself if the tag is...
