    Let's talk about blade sharpening?

I've been clamping my blades and using a side grinder and large file for years. I'll grind or file the cutting edge flat with the bottom of the blade, and grind an approximate angle of cut, close to the original angle. This general method has allowed me to get a clean, smooth cut every time. IMO...

JD X324 mower deck belt question

No. I have a John Deere X324 mower with the 48" deck, non-rotatable deck wheels. The JD part number is M155368. My question is: Does anyone have good experience with off-brand belts and if so, which brand do you use? Thanks.

JD X324 mower deck belt question

Thanks for your response. This is my third JD belt this summer. My last one lasted about two months before it broke. It was installed correctly and was not hanging or rubbing on anything. The spindles and belt rollers spin smoothly. I don't need to keep buying these belts at over $120 each if an...

John Deere Z520a cranks but won’t start

Look for a single conductor black wire that runs near the fuel line into the engine that has a single plug/receptical on it. Unplug this and see if your mower starts. If it starts, it's the CPU. This wire defeats the mower safety functions the CPU regulates. I have a x304 and a X324.

    X324 48" Deck Question

This is a fair question. I know a guy once who came to work and said he couldn't get his chainsaw to cut anything. Those of us who knew about chainsaws suggested that he might have his chain on backwards. It was. Yes, the blades are installed correctly. I've learned since my question that the...

    X324 48" Deck Question

This may be the key. I'll contact JD about an anti-blow out kit and see what that entails. Thank you.

    X324 48" Deck Question

#1,3,4,5,6 - Yes. #2 - John Deere mulching blades with and without the mulch attachment, and John Deere straight blades for non-mulching. As I've mentioned, my 42" deck is great. The 48" deck has very little lift and does a poor job of cutting.

    X324 48" Deck Question

I bought a X304 in 2003 and it's running fine with 1200 hours on it. The x304 has a 42" deck. The way the 42" deck is made, grass is lifted, cut and thrown out the discharge at a pretty good rate. The cut is generally clean and I can generally get a good cut on one pass. I just bought a used...
