I've got a Craftsman lt1000 917.258492 with a 18hp Briggs model 422707 type 1516-01. The tractor runs fine until it gets real warm and then will start to smoke from the engine compartment. It almost seems to me that it's got a leak and its dripping on the muffler. Anyone have a suggestion. Thanks

Yes I did remove both plugs , and more of the same. I think I've just been avoiding removing the starter again. So I'll take it out as you suggested. It may take a few days as I have to order it.

Took the plugs out and manually turned the engine by the flywheel, Starter I'm sure is ok because the day before I pulled it out and had it bench tested at a friends shop. Just to make sure I put in a brand new solenoid. Took my jumper cables to a fully charged battery.......Negative battery...

Cleaned all the connections even put a fresh battery in, checked the seat safety switch and still nothing.

Have a LT4000 runs and cuts great, but the steering has become very hard to steer. I checked the rack everything looks fine no wear. I lubed everything with no noticeable difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Wonder if someone can help? I have a Cv16s Kohler, and there are two yellow wires coming from the regulator/rectifier that I'm not sure where they go. Engine was built in '98 and I'm trying to hook it up to a Yardman. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Frank
