If you're handy and it's not too much trouble to do on your machines, you could remove the carbs, disassemble, carb spray all ports/passages, let dry for a day and either reassemble or leave as-is until you need to use it.

Same here. it can be a hassle if you own a lot of equipment, but it's the only thing that ever assures that things will be running right when you need them. In my experience, Stabil is worthless. Running a carb dry, as many manuals suggest, is no better.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize the white pancake style was different from the red. Interestingly, Briggs and Stratton's 75 micron white one recommends it only be used with a fuel pump system.

Just wondering if these 2 filter types can be used interchangeably on gravity fed fuel systems and if one tends to filter finer particles than the other. Also, do the screen types have a direction of flow or can they be used either way..

I have a Briggs i/c gold 13.5hp motor that spews out blue smoke but only does it intermittently. Most of the time, when it starts happening I can shut the motor off, let it sit for a minute, start it up again it will run without issue. Anyone know what might be going on?

Engine starts and runs fine for about 10-15 seconds then stalls. It restarts fine but then stalls again in same time period. Playing with the choke doesn't really help keep it running any longer Any clue as to what the cause is?
