No more electric Ryobi RM480E 38"

Another year of needing to buy and install a bad battery. This is my third year in a row. My first set of batteries lasted 5 years before I upgraded all four, This year I decided I had enough and sold it. No more electric riding mowers for me.

    GOODBYE TO ELECTRIC

I do not see electric cars working for the average person. Electric tools, yes. There will never be enough chargers, and the power grid will not support them. You saw what last winter did to the chargers. The government put so many restrictions on building charges that they haven't built a...

    My Roybi RM480e problems

My mower will move fine without blades engaged, but once reaching max speed or if I try to go up the slightest incline will stop and start beeping to return and charge. When blades are engaged, well that's weird too. If the ground is level and if I go very, very slowly and don't lower the blades...

    Cost of replacing batteries

That's the plan. We bought a high dollar washer and dryer. Three years later a computer chip died on the dryer. They no longer made that part. We ended up buying a speed queen washer and dryer. They are made the old way.

    Cost of replacing batteries

We have a 2005 Honda Civic going strong—very few repairs. My 2015 Chevy Colorado is still in great shape. Electric vehicles will not last as long, and I do not see a used electric vehicle market. The risk of suddenly replacing a battery pack for up to $60K is scary.

    Cost of replacing batteries

Before you buy an electric mower, look at the cost of battery replacement. I have a Ryobi electric riding lawn mower. I bought it in 2017 and replaced the batteries in 2022. The cost was $1039. This season, my batteries no longer hold a charge as long as two years ago. I love my mower, but the...

    GOODBYE TO ELECTRIC

In the 70's I had a Murray lawn mower. It lasted over 10 tens. I just put gas in it and left it out in the yard until next spring. Always started on the first pull. Like real men, they do not make them like that anymore.

    GOODBYE TO ELECTRIC

For anything with batteries, you have to decide if you are OK with the cost. Look up the cost before you buy. My Ryobi takes four batteries, old-fashioned lead batteries. For example, now stories are coming out that car battery replacements cost from $20 to $50 thousand if they still make the...
