    Honda HRX Design Flaw?

Thanks for that. In my case, the mower didn't have any oil in it yet. I probably gave it several days to dry. I'm definitely going to get a closer look at that little o-ring.

    Honda HRX Design Flaw?

I assume you are talking about part number 14 in the diagram linked here: https://www.southmspowersports.com/Parts/Parts-Fiche/honda-power-equipment/lawn-mower/all/hrr216k8-vkaa/camshaft-pulley/e5ef451c-eb92-4670-b392-181403de135e If so, did you see leakage from where that cam shaft or pin...

    Honda HRX Design Flaw?

Almost two years ago my engine seized due to lack of oil. I had noticed in retrospect that there was oil on the front of the deck underneath the general area of the valve cover. After much education here I was able to rebuild the mower and now it runs great. However, oil is leaking AGAIN from...

Does this carb have an idle adjustment?

So I doublechecked the position of the governor arm and the pin to make sure the governor was putting up enough fight. I loosened the nut and make sure it was adjusted right. It actually fired up with a little too low RPM! That was the issue. I bent the governor arm a little and that put the...

Does this carb have an idle adjustment?

I see what you are saying. I'll have to try that when I get home. The question is whether I can set the mower to idle speed and then lower the speed more by pushing on the governor arm. I think I can but let me try.

Does this carb have an idle adjustment?

By "static governor" do you mean to adjusting the governor screw and making sure the arm and governor pin are fully clockwise?

Does this carb have an idle adjustment?

I'm not sure I understand. You mean it won't work if I adjust the screw while it is running?

Does this carb have an idle adjustment?

Yes, I have a tach, which why is I know it is running fast. Never heard of the tach app. Sounds interesting. I'll give the idle screw a try. I was hoping that is what it was. The other adjustment is to bend the governor arm, but even with no tension in the spring and the throttle on low it...

Does this carb have an idle adjustment?

I can't find any info on the exact carb on my HRX217K4HZA. Photo below. I rebuilt the engine and my idle is a bit high. I identified the auto choke thermowax as one problem (thank you, Honda forum!) and confirmed today that the new one is working. I'm looking next to whether this carb is...

    Auto Choke Question for Honda

Somehow I never knew that Honda section existed! Thanks for recommending it. Lot's of good info there.

Using A Honda HRX Without The Bag ??

I have found with mine that some clippings leak into the chute but not always. It might be a matter of the clip director being dirty with dried grass and preventing a good closure. What I do is when I am near done with mowing I pull the clippings out of the chute and onto the grass. If there...

    Auto Choke Question for Honda

I rebuilt my Honda HRX217K4HZA mower and have other threads on that topic. The mower now cuts grass just fine but I'm having trouble adjusting the engine speed. It runs fast on full throttle, like around 4000 rpm whereas it should be 3100. I use a tachometer while I mow to keep the rpm's...

    Crankshaft bearing scored

I tried cleaning up the bearing but I think the black marks are possibly from carbonized oil rather than from the gasket. This thing was running near 6000 rpm for short periods while I still had the bad governor. It's hard to say but scrubbing made very little improvement. I am using a brand...

    Crankshaft bearing scored

I think those bolts are 12. I have been tightening them repeatedly while checking clearance with plastigauge and they seem fine. The bolts for the sump cover are cheap.

    Crankshaft bearing scored

I'm using a torque wrench. The better quality bolts (the ones with numbers on the head) like for the crank bearing are not snapping. It is the cheaper ones that fail but I bought extras when I got the new crankshaft. I did not use permatex on the cap. I'm inexperienced, not stupid!! :)
