    New battery no crank solved

Thank you! The baking soda treatment would do nothing to replace the metal that corroded away. At this point (only a few years in) there wasn't much remaining of the original connector. I'll be sure to protect this new one.

    New battery no crank solved

I have this same issue, and it has been a recurring one. The positive terminal washer corroded and disintegrated, and the positive cable lug was in a rapid state of decay (but only the positive terminal- the negative terminal still looks new). My Raptor XD is 2 years old and has around 40...

    Battery Bolt Corrosion

Thank you all! There's a shocking amount of experienced and well-thought-out information here- from simple advice to a thorough recap of a science lesson. THANK YOU! I cleaned the connections thoroughly, replaced both bolts with new ones, tightened the connections (without over tightening...

    Battery Bolt Corrosion

Hi- I am having a problem with corrosion on the positive battery terminal on my low-hour Hustler Raptor SD. I'm guessing that this is more of a general question, and likely does not pertain to the specific make or model of my mower, but I put it here just in case. The mower is 2 years old, and...

New Leftover 2020 Hustler SD 48" Mower

I wanted to thank all of the members and contributors here who helped me get through my first season with my new Hustler Raptor SD. I found the "lap bar" style steering to be a bit difficult, and had a bit of a learning curve, but now that I cut one complete season with it- I'm pretty...

Looking For Advice on Maintaining Mower Deck

Thank you so much, Bert!!! I do cut the lawn in the afternoon ONLY specifically to reduce the possibility of wet grass sticking to the deck. I also try to cut it before it gets too tall, to reduce the amount of grass that is being discharged out onto the lawn. I really appreciate you taking...

Looking For Advice on Maintaining Mower Deck

As an aside- I took this debris and separated it into 4 or 5 small pieces, and sprayed each one with a different cleaner (Simple Green, Castrol Super Clean, an ammonia-based window cleaner, CLR- stuff i had around the house that I thought might soften or help dissolve it) but nothing seemed to...

Looking For Advice on Maintaining Mower Deck

Hi- I am looking for advice on techniques to clean the underside of my mower deck. I purchased a brand new mower (a first for me) - a 2020 Hustler Raptor SD and I am really enjoying using it. It has slashed my mowing times in half, and I am happy with it's operation and ease of maintenance...

New Leftover 2020 Hustler SD 48" Mower

I know this topic is months old- but I am posting this in case it helps someone else with the same question. I believe Hustler manufactures relatively high quality machines (at least for residential use), but one of my biggest concerns was whether this mower would fit into my shed. After...

New Hustler Raptor... changing oil first time. Does the drain need a wrench to open?

I know this thread is quite old, but does anyone with a Kawasaki FR651 use an oil extractor to suck the oil out of the top of the engine? I own an oil extractor, and it's quite effective (not to mention simple, neat and clean) on other engines I maintain.

New Leftover 2020 Hustler SD 48" Mower

I'm guessing it will work something like this?: I'll be doing this each time I use the mower (unless I get really good at maneuvering it into my shed (if it fits, that is)). The dealer offering the mower for sale called me to tell me that it is in (they had it at a different location, and...

New Leftover 2020 Hustler SD 48" Mower

Thank you, Bert; that makes perfect sense. I spoke with Hustler Customer Service again today, and they confirmed that the Hustler Raptor 48" mower is indeed 49" wide (with the chute up). Maybe that number is more like 49.22" and it is rounded down, but I will find out when I see the machine...

New Leftover 2020 Hustler SD 48" Mower

I will certainly measure this mower to ensure it will fit. My belief that this mower would be 49" wide with the chute folded up was based upon the specification sheet, as well as a call to Hustler customer service. I am not under the impression that I will be able to drive this into my shed...

New Leftover 2020 Hustler SD 48" Mower

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Hustler's current XD 48" mower is a bit wider than the outgoing SD, and will not fit in my shed. If I want this mower, now's perhaps my last chance to get one (new with a warranty). I do plan on taking a close look at it this week, with a serious eye on...
