I use Blitz cans too. I have 4-5/6 gallon, about the same number of 2.5 gallon and a couple of 1 gallon Blitz cans. No leaks - no smell or gas on hands. I look for them at auctions all the time, garage sales, on-line, etc. I have never heard of them exploding or causing any other issues...

I live in N MN. Extremely cold Jan - Mar. I just run my mowers empty. I do use premium non-oxygenated fuel. Never an issue.

I just blew thru the posts - all good stuff. But I didn't see anything about a new spark plug. Start with the easy stuff first. Get a new plug that matches the specs of the engine. Gap it properly and try it again. Maybe a good cleaning of the plug boot and a little dielectric grease.

I don't know if this helps or not. I did run into a primer issue on an old Tecumseh engine. It would start on fluid - run great. One day I gave it 20 pumps and it started. Another time I gave it 5-6 pumps and held the primer in - depressed. It started cold but died when i removed my finger...
