WTB yard/lawn bug or similar riding mower.... most tractors too big

LOL! But in all honesty, what to buy if I were OP? The Forrest Gump Snapper comes to mind but hard to find in good shape. Simplicity Coronet was a good product. What do they still make that is 30-34" max and a rider out there now days?

    Stihl MS440 vs. Echo CS680

Hi all. I don't see much talk about chainsaws on this forum...more so, side-by-side evaluations. Just recently, I was able to obtain a MS440 that seen very little use and was kept in a county storage room for the last 15 years, perhaps? The CS680 I bought it new and had it for about 3 years now...

    Scag wheel leaking hydro fluid.

Hi, I highly doubt that wheel creep is somehow related to fluid leak. Leak is due to a bad seal or, perhaps, even a cracked motor housing. You say, when wheel is off the ground...no leak. Hmm? Motor bearings are shot? How many hours on this unit? Now, wheel creep in neutral. Normally, I'd say...

New used Deere l100 lawn tractor

Hi Ww, So far you did...quite impressive. Now, the not-so-hard work starts! So, so far, you've used a jump cable from battery '+' direct to one of the copper starter terminals and she barked but no cigar?

    Used oil

This is completely off topic, but I'm fortunate to have enough land and dead trees to process for lumber to justify having my own sawmill...so, you can imagine where all my used oil goes?

    Only 1 rear wheel drives

77, You've got a nice set up for snow there, BTW. I'd say, try to install a scraper blade on the back of it. It'll make a huge difference in speed and "quality" of snow removal. I did it (northern Illinois winters) and result was spectacular!!!

Murray 24583 40" snow thrower worm drive question

Hi BP. Look closely at the worm part of it. See where most of wear is happening? I think that a bushing of sort is missing all the way on the right side, right before spacer/sleeve bearing that engages gear housing. If you were to insert something there the whole gap marked in blue would disappear.

    Only 1 rear wheel drives

Hi 77, What makes you think that you've got a locking differential on that thing? The planetary gear does what it must, and as intendent.

Cub Cadet trans conventional mower slips

The rotary hydro pump housing mating surface has some scratches in it. Flushing out 20W oil to, say, 40W won't make any difference. Ask me how I know it? How to fix it? You must resurface the mating surface where the rotary pump meets with it. Also, check all pump piston return springs, make...

    V-belt recommendations

Hi Kawabob1, Your AYP made mower aka Craftsman 917,xxx,xxxx has, if I remember correctly, 1/2" x 93 1/2" deck belt. You've stated in your #1 OP post that you're using something non-OME that is 5/8" by XXX" in size. Check that and make sure that it is, without any doubt a 5/8" in size...

    S130 Grass Cutting Issues

I, too, can't see any uneven cut. What I do see in the pic is the grass that must be a foot tall (bottom right in pic). Correct me if I'm wrong, you've got a newer model rider, 42" deck with 2-blade arrangement. Are you cutting or mulching? Given that your mower checks out as far as proper...

    Gravely/Ariens Owner Check-In --- Read This First!

Hi. 2008 made HVZ2350 here. Just won't die. Kohler Courage, 2100 Hy-Gear pumps and all. You know what I am taking about? Northern Illionois grass...2 acres to be exact. I don't know what am I doing wrong? Other than...oil/filter change twice a season, clean and grease once/year, cool down cycle...

    Poulan 2055 chainsaw

Follow the proper fuel line/tube routing as indicated on diagram. If bulb gets hard while you're priming it, tubes are connected wrong.

    Craftsman 502270210 loose steering

In blue are the components that could give you a sloppy steering and in red are the ones that need good lube twice a year....because if you don't lube it, it'll make 'blue components' work much harder wearing it out much faster. btw, 'blue' parts need lube also.
