After having kept the machine in storage for a few months, it won't start

There is an impulse tube from the crankcase to the carb that uses pulses from the crankcase to pump fuel to the carb. These impulses operate the diaphragm in the carb,so make sure the impulse tube is not cracked, clean, and not leaking air. This can cause the exact problem you describe.

    No spark at plug

The rust and trash in the fuel cutoff solenoid can physically jam the solenoid and prevent it from working properly. The seat switch is a common problem.Put a jumper across the wires of the switch and see if that solves the problem. If so,replace the switch for safety. Kohler had lots of problems...

    Craftsman T2400 Kohler won't start

The new fuel anti;knock compounds in gas foul a plug very easily, and is almost impossible to remove the fouling by normal means, wire brush, etc. The fouling is not visible. I have found that using a propane torch to burn off the tip and ceramic parts of the plug cleans and restores the new...

    Craftsman T2400 Kohler won't start

Try this:Open the throttle wide open.Crank over engine and see if raw fuel comes out of spark plug hole.If not there is definitely a fuel supply problem.Did you change the fuel filter? Sometimes they will clog inside the tank,so remove the fuel line fitting at the tank and check if it is...

    Issues with pto (solved)

The proof is in the pudding as they say.No repeat failures with the 1n4007.When I was 10 years old,I was building cat whisker radios,(1960's) then vacuum tube radios, then transistors came along, solid state radios, then binary computers and I learned binary, boolean algebra, various programming...

    Issues with pto (solved)

That is not what I am saying.Read my reply carefully. The flyback(reverse voltage) is the most important in this case. The spike can puncture the P/N junction long time before the current can affect it. The applied constant voltage is the max it can withstand, not that it is the applied voltage in...

    Issues with pto (solved)

The 700 volts is the maximum constant supply voltage that it can handle. The PRV is the reverse voltage it can handle. The reverse spike is a very short, sharp, low wattage, high voltage surge.Look at the spike on an oscilloscope, you will see what I mean. You do have an oscilloscope, don't you? My...

    Issues with pto (solved)

Yes.The diode I recommend is better than the oem. The oem is the minimum to do the job, and the cheapest. It also allows them to sell more parts.Look at the price for the replacement parts that cost only pennies each.Lots of companies making lots of money due to the dumbing down of...

    Issues with pto (solved)

A 1N4007 diode will wok just fine.It has a 1000volt peak reverse voltage. Here is a link to diodes on Amazon.Cheap as dirt. The negative end has a line on it,put this to the positive end of the solenoid..it should only conduct when the reverse spike arrives, hence the reverse connection. You may...

I think someone is in trouble...

That is called "Pencil Whipped Maintenance" where the check list is checked off without actually doing the work.No second chances on mission critical work. For instance if a spec calls for 1 inch spacing of wiring cable ties,,you must use a ruler to ensure that they are correct.Somebody was...

    Blade-balance oddity

Is the hole in the blade round,or star or other shape? If not round, and perfectly centered your results will not be good.Use a level to check your tester with blade attached.Mark center of the level as precisely as possible.Check left to right across blade, and end-to- end. A single nail in a post...

    Craftsman deck exploding

A mower was brought to the shop with same problem. The belt was routed wrong. The flat side of the belt was rubbing against a guide. The Kevlar belt was still good.Tough stuff. It would stall when deck was engaged. My guess is a mis-routed belt, based on years of experience.
