My JD rider did that 2 years ago. After installing two new coils and cleaning the carburetor, which did not help; we found that the gas filter inside the fuel tank was cloughed. Replaced the in-tank filter and the engine has run for two years.

I thought we were buying American when we bought our Dodge Ram truck. However, the tag on the door frame says "Made in Mexico".

I had two problems with my X500. The fuel filter in the tank was clogged. And when I also replaced the "inline" filter, I saw some crud in the fuel hose before the filter ( where the filter slides into the hose).
