HI,I bought a used Quality farm and country rider.Looks like it had been sitting for awhile.Started right up and then after running for awhile it started acting like it was out of fuel and I would top off the tank.I decided to change plugs, air cleaner and oil. Then it got progressively worse.I changed the cruddy gas filter.Still running like crap, the engine speed goes up and down ,it is not bad at slow idle but crank it up and it keeps going up and down.It is worse with a load on it.I sprayed some carb cleaner but havent removed the carb. The up and down of engine is consistent,it goes up then bogs down, goes up then bogs down.I have also blown out the fuel line from filter back into tank and also the gas cap.Any clues??

On level ground the self propelled system does a very nice job but whenever I start up a hill I loose virtually 100% of the self propelled assistance. I have tightened the cable and that will help some for a short period of time before I loose Personal Pace on hills again. My mower is 2 years old and it has been doing this from the first time I used it.

I am hoping that someone on the forum has found a way to correct this problem. I really like the lawn mower but I am going to have to replace is if I can't get the mower to pull up hills.

I spoke to Toro Customer Service and they told me that the mower was not made to work on hills.

I can't find the mower deck parts I need, and I can't figure out how to get the depth of cut higher. It scalps too easily. The part I need is the strap with a slot on the upper end which attaches to the lift/lower cross arm, and a stud on the other end which attaches to the mower deck. I broke it because the deck is too close to the ground. It snagged on a rut and broke the lift link in the middle of the slot.

Hi guys. New member here and I come to you with a small problem:confused:. The other day I was mowing my grass and the bracket that connects the left part of the handle snapped. I called the MTD parts number and the person on the phone was no help without a model or serial number. She explained to me where I could find this and I told her the numbers had been rubbed of due to wear. Does anyone know what year or model this is? It is a walk-behind, self propelled mower. My best guess is that it is around 10-15 years old. It runs very well and has been taken care of. The bracket looks easy to replace, I just can't find the correct model number to order the bracket. I snapped a few pictures of the mower and attached them. Thanks for all the help in advance. Take care!

The past two days have been very unlucky for me. Here is how the bad parts of them went.

Yesterday....3:00PM: Went out to mow a lawn. I got the front done, then had to stop because the sky was as black as night and I didn't want to be stuck outside during a severe thunderstorm.

Today.....8:30AM: Was about to finish a lawn when it started to rain, lightly at first. I finished up the trimming, but then the rain got harder as I finished blowing off the sidewalk. I got soaked!

Today....11:20AM: Grass was dry enough to start mowing and then after getting the front and side yard done it started to pour so I stopped. I tried to blow off the driveway....which is hard when the grass is stuck to the wet concrete! It then started to thunder. I got so wet...again!

More steady rain moved in....so no more mowing today!

Hello. I am trying to remove the roto-stop assembly to check it because the roto-stop cable got damaged (see my other thread about the recall work:http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/honda-...tml#post113251). It seems the dealer over-tightened the crankshaft bolt because I am having a hard time removing it. I tried holding the flywheel bolt (that loosened first) and using a strap wrench around the flywheel to hold the crankshaft still. I have heard about putting a rope into the cylinder via the spark plug hole, but I am afraid of bending the valves or breaking something. Any other ideas?

Newby here. I'm hoping to pick up some tips. I'm using a Toro 4260 Time Cutter with bagger on 10K sq. ft. residential lawn. Lawn is established (9 years) and generally doing well. I feed the lawn every 8 weeks or so. I use the Scott's 4 step and supplement feed between the steps to maintain the interval. I have an irrigation system and the soil is sandy so I need to keep an eye on the water.
Question: I came down with a case of "red Thread". In researching it seems my lawn may have been made susceptible by being underfed. This caught me by surprise. Since I'm feeding every 7/8 weeks now, should I just feed more often, or should I switch to mulching so I'm less dependent on the Scott's feedings? With my mower switching from mulching to bagging will not be something I do quickly and casually since it will involve changing out blades and an internal deck baffle system.
