    Craftsman Rear axle pulled out

Anybody, I have a craftsman 42" hydro transaxle mod# 917256552 ,I was trying to remove Driver side rear tire=stuck then smaked it with hammer on rear side of rim inside,Damm ,whole axle came out, looks like e clip keeps in.
The question there a e clip in there and if so do i have to tear sealed differential apart to fix , or is there some other mechanism that holdes axle in
wearas i put axle in and drove, and axle dident come out or am i jus lucky on that one????

    Any help appreciated,Kirk @

Tear in apart there is a E clip on the inside of the differential gears.
